We were pleased to be involved in Health Education England and NHS England’s initiative to develop a ‘Musculoskeletal Core Capabilities Framework’, to support practitioners who are the first point of contact for patients with musculoskeletal conditions, such as arthritis.
With the invaluable help of our Trustee Debbie Rose, we submitted expert feedback to the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA) alongside other member organisations, to help inform the initiative and develop the new guidelines.
One of the key aims of the initiative is to equip a range of healthcare professionals who are on the front line, with the knowledge and skillset necessary to consistently deliver a person-centered approach, and help people manage their condition with better outcomes.
The framework comprises of fourteen capabilities, lying across four domains:
- Person-centered approaches
- Assessment, investigation, interventions and diagnosis
- Condition management, interventions and prevention
- Service and professional development
