Meet… Terry Urbanczyk

Terry joined Arthritis Action as Member Services Manager in October 2018, to coordinate and manage Arthritis Action’s Membership service. Terry will connect with Members and provide a personalised service on a daily basis.

When did you join the charity?
I started at Arthritis Action on Monday 15 October 2018.

What is your background?
I have had a varied background. I was awarded an honours degree in Marketing and have had marketing and communications roles since leaving uni. I have also worked in events and volunteering. However it was in my previous role at another charity in a member services position where I flourished the most and developed my career in member services. I also run a dads and tots group called ‘Men behaving Dadly’, play bass guitar and cycle.

What do you feel the Charity offers people living with arthritis? Why do you recommend becoming Member of the Charity?
The charity provides the opportunity for members to access services that will support them in living with arthritis by providing self-management advice, access to practitioner appointments and nutrition consultations. If you have Arthritis then I would definitely recommend joining as a Member. For around half the cost of a private practitioner appointment, you will get nutrition advice, two subsidised practitioner appointments, twice yearly magazine and self-management advice and recipes online.

What do you do in your day-to day?
Wake up, cycle to work, speak to the charity’s wonderful members, cycle home, be a dad to my three kids and relax.

What is your favourite thing about Arthritis Action’s events?
I think it’s important for people living with arthritis to meet other people, develop new friendships and share stories, hints and tips. Being social, laughing and eating together has a wonderful effect on the mind and body. This is the best thing about the Groups, people getting together and having a fantastic time.

What is your favourite sandwich filling?
Roast dinner, including the gravy. It sounds crazy, but try it, you’ll love it.

What is your current favourite book?
I’m reading 360 Degree Leader, by John C Maxwell.

Train or car?
Cycle!
