The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has published a quality standard on joint replacement (primary): hip, knee and shoulder, with the support of Arthritis Action.
The quality standard sets out priority areas for quality improvement and highlight areas with identified variation in current practice, and includes a set of statements to help improve quality and information on how to measure progress. It is endorsed by NHS England as required by the Health and Social Care Act (2012), and applies in England and Wales. Decisions on how they apply in Scotland and Northern Ireland are made by ministers in the Scottish government and Northern Ireland Executive.
Visit the NICE website to read the new quality standard in full, discover how to use them, and how the standards are developed.
