Robin Nye has stepped down as Chair of the Board of Trustees, after over 11 years in post. He will be continuing as a Trustee until June 2024. The announcement came at Arthritis Action’s Annual General Meeting and Members’ Conference on 19 June, taking place at The King’s Fund in London.
Robin said: “I have been privileged to work with a hugely talented team of people who have had the same ambition to develop the full potential of Arthritis Action. My vision was that we should come to be seen as the principle UK charity providing hands-on, practical help to improve the quality of life for people affected by arthritis – and I believe that we have achieved this over the last few years.”
The Board of Trustees have welcomed Dan Torjussen-Proctor as new Chair. Dan has been a Trustee on the Board for eight years – with a year’s break – and returned in 2022 keen to take the Charity forward to support more people who live with arthritis in the UK.
Dan said: “It is a great honour to take over the reins from Robin, who over the past 11 years has done a tremendous job in leading the Charity through exponential growth and steering us through some very challenging times in the last few years.
“I have been a Trustee of Arthritis Action for eight years, which gives me some insight into the Charity’s activities. As we embark on the development of our new three-year strategy (2024-2026), I am committed to ensuring that Arthritis Action continues to make a significant impact on people affected by arthritis across the UK.
“I look ahead with enthusiasm for the next stage in our journey and take great confidence from the wonderful team we have at Arthritis Action. Together, we will strive to create a future where arthritis is no longer a barrier to living a fulfilling and active life.”
Arthritis Action CEO Shantel Irwin said: “The Team and I are so grateful to Robin for all his support over the past years. Robin’s work has been invaluable to our Charity’s identity, evident in how far we’ve come with his leadership. Robin leaves us in the capable hands of Dan, who is a long- trusted member of our Board. We are excited for the new plans ahead.”
