Arthritis Action member Carole Matthews has helped to raise £356 as part of the Waitrose Community Matters scheme in Eastbourne.
Carole put Arthritis Action forward as one of the causes to feature in the shop’s local Green Token Scheme, where Eastbourne customers are given a green token at the checkout to place in one of three boxes, each allocated to a different cause. The more tokens a cause receives, the bigger the donation it receives from Waitrose. To apply for the scheme and help raise money for the charity, all Carole had to do was speak to the welcome desk of her local Waitrose store and fill out an application form recommending Arthritis Action for the scheme.
The money raised by Carole will go towards offering tailored support for people living with arthritis around the country, helping to improve their quality of life and reduce painful symptoms. There are currently over 10 million people living with arthritis in the UK, making it the leading cause of pain and disability nationwide.
