A Gift of Hope: How Arthritis Action Helped Elizabeth Overcome Pain and Find New Strength
This festive season, many of us are reflecting on the blessings we have — our health, our loved ones, and the support that carries us through tough times. But for those living with arthritis, the journey can often feel lonely and filled with pain. At Arthritis Action, we are here to ensure no one faces their battle alone, by connecting people to a supportive community that truly understand the challenges of living with arthritis.
If it had been painful for you to walk for over three years, and suddenly a last-minute cancellation meant you could undergo a hip replacement the next day, would you say yes? For our Trustee Elizabeth, the answer was a quick, ‘Yes!’ Once an active netball player, Elizabeth had slowly lost her mobility and battled with pain every day. At 54, she was the only member in her social circle to undergo the operation, and didn’t know what to expect.
Thankfully, as our Trustee, she knew Arthritis Action was here to help when she needed support and advice.
“I felt alone, like no one understood my pain. It’s so reassuring knowing others have gone through this journey and come out feeling better.”
Elizabeth represents over 10 million people with arthritis in the UK. This December, you can give the gift of support and hope to those like Elizabeth, who need a helping hand to navigate their arthritis journey. Your donation will help us continue providing life-changing resources, advice, and a community to individuals who need it most now and throughout the year.
Your generosity can bring comfort and relief to many, ensuring that no one faces their pain alone. Your support makes a profound impact on people living with arthritis, offering them the tools, knowledge, and encouragement they need to live better and more comfortably.
We are deeply grateful for your kindness and support, and we wish you a peaceful and joyful holiday season.
We have given Members advice on diet, offered referral services to specialist help such as physiotherapists and osteopaths and ran online sessions so that people can share experiences and have social contact when it is often difficult to get out of the house in the winter months.
We have also provided wider to support to those with arthritis, friends and family through the wealth of resources available on our website to help manage their arthritis. We do all this, with your help, we would like to be able to continue to do so while the pressure on health and welfare services elsewhere remain stretched.
If you are able, please donate £20 today, to help provide tailored support and advice to those affected by arthritis.
Thank you for your invaluable support.
